Dear Supporters of Coach Rob’s Memorial Golf Tournament,

The Rob Benard, Jr Memorial fund was established in 2021 to provide a scholarship for an Agawam High School student to assist with college expenses. The scholarship is bestowed on a senior that has played football at AHS for a minimum of two years and demonstrated exceptional character. In addition, the fund will provide an annual donation to Agawam Youth Football to purchase equipment, maintain the program and provide opportunities for team character development.

Rob Benard Jr. was a resident and dedicated coach to the Agawam community for 13 years. Rob was an avid sports enthusiast, a lifelong New England fan, and one of the most knowledgeable individuals when it came to recalling sporting events and beyond. He channeled his love for sports into a passion for coaching a variety of youth sports. He especially loved coaching Agawam youth football. He considered fellow coaches brothers and the kids his own. The ultimate joy was coaching his own son, Matthew, throughout his years in youth football. His mission was to not only teach the knowledge and skills of the game, but develop character and commitment as well. Nothing brought him more joy and pride than watching the team work together to succeed.

We are so pleased to announce that with the success of our first two tournaments we have been able to award 5 scholarships! The recipients demonstrated leadership and strong character. We also donated to Agawam Youth Football and hope to continue that tradition. We are forever grateful for all the support we received in our inaugural year from sponsors and participation in the event.

In other exciting news, Matthew, Rob’s son, will be attending Springfield College where he will pursue a degree in Sports Management & Analytics. He will also be playing football for Springfield College.

On Monday, July 31st, 2023, the THIRD ANNUAL COACH ROB MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT will be held at 12:30PM at Crestview Country Club in Agawam. Please consider joining us with your tax deductible support this year. Net proceeds will go to the Fund for the benefit of the Rob Benard, Jr Memorial Scholarship and Agawam Youth Football. We are seeking broad community participation and your involvement may be as a business sponsor, raffle prize donor, and golfer participation. We also greatly appreciate individual cash donations. An awards banquet BBQ dinner for golfers, supporters, and other friends will follow the tournament at 6:00 PM.
